The bone marrow coordinator stopped by with some news. She said that out of the 3 donor samples that they have received so far, that 2 of them are 10 out of 10 matches. This is great news in the HLA matching. The 3rd one came back with 9 out of 10 of the parameters met. One thing with the 2 matches is this: One match is Alex's blood type but CMV positive. The other match is NOT Alex's blood type but CMV negative like Alex is. I guess CMV is very common in many people. It's a virus that is present in many of us. The coordinator didn't know which match that the director would choose. BUT... she did say that she didn't think he would need the other two donor samples with what has been received so far.
